Isabelle and John’s September Wedding

Green Irene Flower Shop

Isabelle & John were married in the beautiful Shakespeare Garden of San Francisco. If you have every been to the garden, you will know that there are flowers that line the entrance almost as soon as you walk in through the gate. Isabelle and John asked us early on, “If we bring in more flowers, will they clash with the native ones?” We assured them that we could not choose overbearing arrangements for such a naturally beautiful setting. We suggested that, rather than creating arrangements that came from the ground up (as the native ones did), we’d create arrangements to come from the sky down, pomanders to hang on the trees! The all-white pomanders we designed added the perfect touch of romantic playfulness to the special ceremony, and mirrored the flowers on the ground, creating a feeling of being even more surrounded by blooms. We also lined the aisle with ivory rose petals on each side to draw your eye from the aisle up to the bride and groom and to the pomanders hanging behind them.

For her bridal bouquet, Isabelle requested a small-medium size bouquet with a white, peachy-pink theme. For the attendants, she wanted small, mostly white bouquets with a touch of pink to highlight their beautiful dresses. For these bouquets we used silver lace dusty miller, poppies, stock, anemones, freesia, cabbage roses, light pink veronicas, roses, and dahlias. We finished them off with gold ribbon and a lace overlay.

The 10-course dinner reception was held at the Hong Kong Flower Lounge in Millbrae. Knowing that the main attraction was going to be the food (and that the lazy susans at the restaurant would need to be kept free for the food), John and Isabelle requested simple reception flowers. We recommended tall, elegant, and thin arrangements that would add a beautiful touch without occupying much space. We tied in the flowers from the bridal bouquets (roses, dahlias, and some dusty miller) and added fancy fern and yellow wave flax to add a touch of sophistication. The arrangements added a fresh, dynamic feeling to the dining hall without taking up much space. We also repurposed the pomanders from the reception and hung them from the chandeliers at the restaurant. The dining hall looked romantic and inviting and the flowers accentuated our gastronomic experience.

It was an honor to work with these two and we know they have many years of good food, fun, and joy ahead! Check out their wedding flowers here.
